Three N. Europe District Scout Groups had an amazing time in Eifel National Park, in Vogelsang, Germany over the Whitsun weekend break.
Over the last month we've seen a huge amount of activities across BSO. Here's an update on what's been happening across BSO over the last few weeks
Earlier this month, I attended the Northern Europe Scouts District Camp at De Kluis campsite, near Brussels in Belgium. I had the best time meeting 460 BSO members from four-year-old Squirrels to twenty-four-year-old Scout Network members along with a host of amazing BSO leaders. I also enjoyed the opportunity to have dinner with the Brussels BGO Unit where we spoke about the closure and I tried to provide some reassurance that they can continue meeting with their friends with just a few adjustments if they move to Scouting.
At the camp, I joined in with two separate Cub and Scout campfires. I’m pleased to report Northern Europe can sing as loud as any I’ve heard before! I also ended up leading a couple of Scout songs! #PenguinSong #MyNameIsJoe #JustAnotherMadLeader!
In these post-pandemic times, it's crucial for young people to come together and learn the art of normal socialising and making friends. The camp provided a fantastic opportunity for our members to do just that! It is great to feel that our activities are getting back to normal at long last. I had the pleasure of meeting many dedicated volunteers whose passion and commitment to delivering exceptional experiences for our members is truly inspiring.

BSO Network were well represented for the Coronation of The King and The Queen on Saturday 6th May 2023.
BSO had ten Network members camping at Gilwell Park. Several members were helping at Hyde Park staffing the big screens. Whilst others were making sure people knew where to go, helping with crowd control in and around Green Park. AAC(YLs) Victoria Mitchell helped on General Duties as part of the registration and info team at Gilwell Park.
A London newspaper also featured our members in a great news article with our Network looking very smart indeed.
